How We Work
Authority Books Publishing offers professional publishing services for business books. We help business people self-publish books so they can retain complete control over their book’s development and how they monetize their book.
We believe a book done well can transform someone’s business and life. You will gain the visibility and credibility a good book offers, but you’ll also have the most powerful lead generation tool ever.
Our services break out into four phases: editorial, publishing, launch, and lead generation.
Here is an example of what a full book publishing package might include:
EDITORIAL
- Business plan for book. Define goal for book, ideal reader, reader’s transformation, overall project plan.
- Author’s existing content reviewed by editor and ghostwriter.
- Author and editor develop 20-30-page outline, review outline with 3-5 beta readers.
- Author speaks outline to create first draft.
- Ghostwriter and editor rework spoken draft into second draft.
- Third draft: Quotes, story refinement, images, examples, research, text development.
- Fourth draft: Continued refinement of manuscript for clarity, brevity, and impact. Second round beta readers.
- Ghostwriter, editor, and author take two-week break from manuscript.
- Fifth draft: Beta reader and “fresh eyes” insights incorporated into manuscript.
- Sixth draft: Near final rewrite for clarity, brevity, and impact.
- Seventh draft: Final fixes, author signs off.
- Supplementary content (guest chapters, embedded calls to action, foreword, courses, exercises, workbook based on your book, etc) developed as needed.
- Second editions: for book relaunches, sometimes it’s worth updating the book or reworking a few sections of it.
PUBLISHING
- Copyediting.
- Typesetting.
- Proofreading.
- Cover.
- Amazon product page (and other booksellers).
- Set up book in Amazon KDP.
- Author copies and launch merchandise for promotion.
- Launch “team” community recruited, hosted, and engaged with.
- Hardcover, paperback, ebook, and audiobook.
- Audiobook recorded, edited, and submitted to ACX.
- Workbook based on your book published.
LAUNCH
- Landing page to get on launch list and get email updates.
- 15 emails announcing different phases of the book.
- Merchandise and launch materials designed and produced: “one-sheeter,” bookmarks, mugs, notecards, tshirts, bookbags, return address labels.
- 4 booked podcasts.
- Book submitted to four book awards.
- Amazon ads.
- Launch event presentation.
- Launch event hosting and planning.
- “Best-seller insurance”. (Your book is guaranteed to achieve Amazon best-seller status)
- At least five reviews.
- 50 copies sent to 25 book reviewers/industry influencers.
LEAD GENERATION
- Set up direct selling and automated shipment fulfillment integrated with client’s website.
- Setting up four-step ascension book funnel (1. buy book, 2. qualify survey, 3. add to email list or community, 4. ask to schedule a call).
- 52 quotes excerpted from the book social media posts or newsletters.
- 52 social media posts (some with author reading, some video animations, some just text).
- Lead magnet or guest chapter written, laid out, set up with email list.
- “Lumpy mail” campaign to your prospect list.
- Automated newsletter created from excerpts from your book.
- 5-10 blog posts excerpted and lightly rewritten from your book, for your site or for guest posts.
That’s most, but not all, of what we do. You do not have to do every item listed here; every book project is customized so it has the most impact for the author.
