Books for experts who want to be recognized as authorities.

Are you ready to amplify your impact and be seen as an authority in your niche? We turn experts into recognized authorities by taking your expertise and making it into a book that generates leads, amplifies your visibility, and takes your business to the next level.

Our four-phase process for non-fiction business books goes from idea to manuscript, through to publishing, launch, and lead generation.

Jesse is the author of The Agency Owner’s Guide to Freedom. Here’s his experience working with Pam Neely and Authority Books Publishing. We took Jesse’s book from a first “mess” of a draft through to final manuscript, to publication in hardcover, paperback, audiobook, and Kindle book, to launch, and set it up as part of an automated lead generation system, complete with making the book available for sale on Jesse’s website, NicheInControl.com.

Who We Work With

Coaches, consultants, and entrepreneurs. But we’re a little more specific than that. You are our ideal client if you have:

  • A proven method or a message that is already resonating with people.
  • An engaged audience of at least 5,000 people, either via social or an email list or community.
  • Existing content, either as a podcast, a training course, blog posts, a YouTube channel, etc.
  • At least three years’ experience in the area you want your book to be about.
  • The ability to devote one to three hours a week to your book for the 7-9 months we’ll be working together.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for what you do; you get lit up talking about it.
  • A call to make the world a better place through your work.
  • Enough interest in your book to put work and thought into it.
  • An annual revenue of at least $200,000.

What We Do

It’s a four-phase process:

  • Manuscript
We start with a business plan, positioning, and the development of the core idea and promise of your book. From there we’ll get to know your existing content and method very well. We’ll plan out the content for your book, your launch, and your lead generation funnel. We’ll develop a super-detailed outline for your book, vet it with five beta readers, and then you’ll speak out the first draft of your book. That draft will go through three heavy rewrites, including another round of beta reader feedback.

  • Publishing
The manuscript will be copyedited, proofread, and typeset. We’ll get you a fabulous cover, a snazzy interior design, and publish the book in paperback, hardcover, Kindle/ebook, and an audio book. Your choice if you want to record your audio book or not. We’ll also set up your Amazon product page and choose the right categories so your book can easily attain “bestseller” status.

  • Launch
We’ll ship you author copies, walk you through all the social media, the videos, the emails, the launch party, and the content for your launch party. You’ll get merch to give away to your launch team, and we’ll recruit that team so your book has a nice boost of reviews and fanfair from the day it’s published. We’ll also get you on a few podcasts and work some PR magic to get your book a few key mentions. And we’ll mail out 100 review copies. The launch process starts from the moment we start talking about the title.

  • Lead generation
Book sales and bestseller lists are nice, but you need leads. So you’re gonna get them. Having us set up direct selling for your book on your website means you’ll know who’s buying your book. This doesn’t happen if they buy on Amazon or in bookstores. By selling your book on your site, you can also pre-qualify them as leads, upsell them courses or masterminds or retreats, add them to an email autoresponder… you get the idea. (And don’t worry: Amazon or another vendor will do the order fulfillment.) If you have an online community, we’ll hook up book sales with that community so you have an incredible lead generation machine working for you. We can also set up a “lumpy mail” campaign with your new best marketing tool: Your book. Our lead generation services also include repurposing your book into up to 104 social media posts and at least ten automated newsletters. Those social posts drive interest to your book, which drives leads to your business. It’s a beautiful system once it’s all set up.

How Long Does It Take?

Seven to nine months seems to be the sweet spot. We know you want your book out as soon as possible, but it needs to be good. And you’ve got a business to run, so you can’t be putting too many hours into the book every week.

Here’s how it all roughly works out:

  • One month to transcripts
“Transcripts” are the transcribed copy from you speaking your book out from a super-detailed, 20 to 30-page outline. Getting to transcripts means we’ve also developed a “business plan” for your book and planned and begun development on the content for your lead generation, your launch, the guest chapter, the foreword, etc.

  • Three months from transcripts to finished manuscript
Three (or more) heavy rewrites as the transcription evolves into a book. This includes a round of beta reader feedback, getting quotes and research if appropriate, creating and developing examples, assignments, graphics, and so much else. It’s a book, after all. Expect it to be in the vicinity of 250 pages when it’s done, but we’re going for value, not page count.

  • One month to publishing
Two weeks for copy editing, one week for proofreading, one week for typesetting. Then you get a proof copy! (“A proof copy” is a pre-publication version of your book so you can see how the book has come out before it’s published.) This month may also include you recording your audiobook, plus some pre-launch work so launch month isn’t too intense.

  • One month to launch and direct selling/lead generation setup
You – and our team – will have one month between when you see proofs of your book to your launch party and launch date. In this time, we’ll also set up direct selling on your site, get your launch team ready, and do as much media and visibility work as possible.

  • One month post-launch to continue promotion and refine lead generation
Launch will be so much fun we’ll just tack on another month of it. Seriously, though – once your book is actually available for sale, there’s more promotion to do. There are review copies to be shipped and some automatic book marketing to turn on. Most importantly, we need to make sure your lead generation funnel is working perfectly. And we may want to try out a lumpy mail campaign. By the end of this month, we want you to be getting so many qualified leads that you have to re-do your sales process and hire somebody to handle all of it.

    TOTAL: 7 months.

Can it be done in less time? Yes. It is possible to do this in five months, but anything less than six months starts to cut so many corners it impacts the success of the book.
